Community Guidelines
Meegly works because strangers are, mostly, decent to each other. These guidelines keep it that way. They are short on purpose.
The spirit
Four things we ask of everyone.
There is a real person there
Someone tapped once, same as you did. Treat them like a person, not a channel you are flipping past.
Start with a hello
A face appearing without a word is unnerving for everyone. Two seconds of hello changes the whole call.
Be kind, or be gone
Skipping is free and instant. If a conversation is not for you, leave it. Being cruel is not the alternative.
Report what you would not want a friend to see
Reporting is how the community looks after itself. It takes one tap and it is never held against you.
The rules
One column is manners. The other ends your time here, on the first offence.
Always fine
- Assume the other person is having a normal day and would like a normal conversation.
- Say goodbye, or just skip. Both are fine. Silence and staring is not.
- Take no for an answer the first time, on anything.
- Keep it to what you would do in front of a stranger on a bus.
Never allowed
- Nudity, sexual content, or sexual acts on camera. Not even briefly, not even as a joke.
- Anyone under 18, or presenting yourself as one.
- Harassment, threats, slurs, or trying to intimidate someone into staying or doing anything.
- Recording, screenshotting or sharing another person without their clear consent.
- Advertising, spam, asking for money, or running a scam of any kind.
- Pretending to be someone you are not, or misrepresenting who you work for.
- Anything illegal, or trying to break or overload the service.
What happens when someone breaks them
Bans are automatic first and reviewed by a person after. Nothing here is a warning shot.
Each ban is twice the last one
Bans follow a signed-in account across devices, and can void unused hearts and passes without refund. Moderators review every report and can extend, uphold or reverse; every decision is logged. If you think a ban was wrong, write to [email protected].
Reporting
It is on every call, and it takes one tap
Pick the reason that fits; if none does, pick Other and tell us in a line. The call ends, the person can never be matched with you again, and a human sees the last messages of the chat. Reports made in bad faith stop counting after a moderator throws two of them out.
