Talking to strangers should feel like a good thing. These are the tools you have, what happens when you use them, and where to turn if something goes badly.

18+confirmed before your camera turns on

Your tools

All of them are one tap away, in every call, whether or not you have an account.

Leave in one tap

Next ends the call instantly and finds someone new. Esc does the same on a keyboard, and you can turn on a palm wave to skip without touching anything. Nobody can hold you in a chat.

Report

The Report button is on every call. Pick a reason: nudity, someone who looks under 18, harassment, spam, or other. The call ends, the person is blocked from ever matching with you again, and the last messages of the chat are attached as evidence for a human to review.

The nudity guard

Your browser looks at incoming video before it reaches your screen. If it thinks a stream is explicit it covers it and asks whether to report and skip, or to show it anyway if it got it wrong. It runs entirely on your device; no frame is ever sent to us or anyone else.

18 and over, always

You confirm you are 18 or over before your camera turns on. A single credible report of someone who appears to be a minor removes them immediately.

Nothing recorded, nothing kept

Video and audio travel directly between the two of you and are never stored. There are no profiles, so the person you meet learns exactly what you tell them and nothing more.

What happens after a report

Pressing Report is not a message into the void. This is the whole chain, in order.

  1. 1

The call ends there and then

The room closes, and that person can never be matched with you again. The last messages of the chat ride along with the report so a human can see what happened.

  2. 2

Reports are counted by people, not by presses

One furious person pressing the button twenty times counts once. Three different people reporting the same device within a day ban it automatically.

  3. 3

    Serious reasons need fewer reports

Nudity bans on two reports. A suspected minor bans on one credible report, immediately.

  4. 4

    Bans get longer each time

A first automatic ban lasts a day. Each further ban doubles, up to a month. Bans apply to the device and, when signed in, to the account too, so they follow a person across devices.

  5. 5

    False reports stop counting

Reporters whose reports moderators keep throwing out no longer push anyone toward a ban. Coordinated false reporting does not work here.

  6. 6

A human has the last word

Moderators uphold, dismiss, extend or reverse, and every decision is logged. If you believe a ban was wrong, write to [email protected]. Chat evidence is kept for 30 days and then stripped.

Staying safe

Five habits that keep almost everyone out of trouble.

  • Treat the person on the other side as a stranger in the street. Do not share your full name, address, school, workplace, phone number, or anything you would not hand to someone you just met.
  • Nothing you show on camera can be taken back. Assume anyone can screenshot.
  • If someone asks you to move to another app, send money, or turn on something in your browser, say no and report. That is the shape of every scam.
  • You never owe anyone a conversation. Skip the moment you feel uncomfortable; it costs you nothing.
  • Anyone asking your age, or telling you they are under 18, is a report. Do not keep talking.

If something serious happened

Report the person in the app so we can act. For anything involving a threat, extortion, or a minor, go to the authorities too. These lines are for India, where Meegly operates.

Law enforcement, or anything urgent about a minor

Write to [email protected] with “Urgent” in the subject. We act on reports of nudity, sexual content and impersonation within 24 hours, and we cooperate with the authorities where the law requires it.
